i am now looking for a new job and since I have some other plan this june, i decided to look for a part time job instead of a full time one. hence my target job is either an online english tutorial or a one-on-one, in-person tutorial.
i've been to a language learning center in alabang this morning to try my luck on their part time tutor opening. so i took their exam, and afterwards i was interviewed. everything went smoothly. unfortunately, the interviewer told me constructively that i got low score on the grammar exam, 45 out of 55 (personally, i do think the score is not that bad). but that seemed to be a non issue. after all, there are still other things to teach such as vocabulary and reading among others. then i was asked to tell something about myself and i happened to mention that i have one SIBLING. notice the context to which i used the term. then the interviewer corrected me right away, saying that i should have used BROTHER or SISTER instead of SIBLING because the latter term refers to one's child. i think i snapped right in that very instant but i instantly remembered it's a job interview. if i had totally flared up, i must have yelled at her to raise my point like i always do. gad! sure i admit my vocabulary had always been lousy sometimes and i keep on forgetting how to use my prepositions, but to tell me i incorrectly used the word sibling is downright insulting! tell me, do i have a reason to even think of whacking her hard in the head? sure i do!
oh well i won't waste my energy over some know-it-all-just, pseudo pro-english speaker. after all, their initial salary offer is BEYOND insulting.

numerous (not-so)vital facts of life can be discovered once you accompany a rural health midwife (in my case, nanay) in the quarterly vitamins distribution in her area of assignment.
1. the government, or perhaps the local government of dasmarinas, distributes abundant supplies of vitamins and deworming tablets and other types of vitamin supplement for FREE. unfortunately, the people are not well informed on their availability.
2. there are children (ages 5-10years) that get offended on the issue of weight. don't EVER tell them that they're "healthy" or else they'll go berserk.
3. the phobia brought about by the excruciation process of vaccination is very DESTRUCTIVE to the auditory nerves.
4. never underestimate the dugyot kids who look like they haven't took a bath for days and seems to have been under the sun three days straight. they can do math better than a 22 -year old.
5. perhaps to cloak their impoverishment, poor people are either extremely timid or downright arrogant.
6. with the pressing food supply problem, the lines in the NFA rice stalls and bilihang bayans were able to singlehandedly beat the lines of the last harry potter movie. this is a manifestation of the REALITY of food shortage now.
7. some parents admire showbiz people so much that they actually name their spawns after some of them. and they don't just adopt their first names, the parents have the ENTIRE name (surname, if there is any, included) registered! (ex. Keith Martin *insert parent surname*, Kurt Russell *insert parent surname*)
8. half of the reason of population explosion in the country is teen pregnancy.
9. to measure the weight of a screeching child, have one of his/her parents or guardian to carry him/her and take their weight together. then weigh the parent or guardian without the wallowing kid. afterwards, subtract the second figure from the first. the result is the weight of the crybaby. can't believed i actually discussed math in my blog!ha!
10. some parents are more concerned of their poker game than their own children's birth dates.
11. TV is mostly left on (and sometimes the DVD player as well) even if the entire household is OUTSIDE their house. we don't want to die of global warming and climate change, do we?

i first heard slow me down on radio when i was still working. whenever i'm at lola's library, i always have my phone radio on and have it in full volume. then one time i got practically froze and got goosebumps. gad this song sounded like enya, i uttered. though i am no enya connoisseur. during that time i had this strange habit of jotting down title of songs that mesmerized me or perhaps i am just doing it just to pass time (such a humdrum job i had). well you know how DJs from "konyo" radio stations speak, always in gibberish, so i thought the song was by some emmy rose. i spent hours googling the lyrics and search the music video, but i found nothing.
then yesterday, while having my resume printed, i this song again. this time, i couldn't help it and ask the ate in the shop the song title. as nice as she always is (she better be because we are her suki already), she nonchalantly showed me the her playlist. bingo! it's slow me down by emmy rossum! the girl from the phantom of the opera. well i'm not instantly converted into a fan upon seeing her in the screen adaptation of the phantom, but i really think she's very beautiful. while doing this post, i'm downloading it. hehehe.
anyway, this really sounded like enya. some even compare it to imogen heap's hide & seek. but heck i am still entraced by this song!
Moving so fast I'm forgetting my purpose
Blur of the traffic is sending me spinning
Getting nowhere
My head and my heart are colliding - chaotic
Pace of the world -- I just wish I could stop it
Try to appear like I've got it together
I'm falling apart
Save me
Somebody take my hand
And lead me
Slow me down
Don't let love pass me by
Just show me how
Cause I'm ready to fall
Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie
Before my life flies by
I need you to slow me down
Sometimes I fear that I might disappear
In the blur of fast-forward I falter again
Forgetting to breathe, I need to sleep
I'm getting nowhere
All that I've missed I see in the reflection
Passed me while I wasn't paying attention
Tired of rushing, racing and running
I'm falling apart
Tell me
Oh won't you take my hand
And lead me
Slow me down
Don't let love pass me by
Just show me how
Cause I'm ready to fall
Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie
Before my life flies by
I need you to slow me down
Just show me
I need you to slow me down
The noise of the world is getting me caught up
Chasing the clock and I wish I could stop it
Just need to breathe, somebody please
Slow me down

with the palpable food shortage in the country and around the world, it is a little scary to think that the 1973 sci-fi flick soylent green may actually happen in real life. on a second thought, only someone on the brick of insanity (caused by extreme hunger i think), will ever think of the possibility of this idea. after all, the idea is very much appealing and not to mention practical. soylent green will not just put an end to world hunger, it can also be the only answer to population explosion. *dracula-esque laughter*
confused? click the link above or watch the video below to understand the cryptic message i'm sending you. wahahahahahahahahaha*cough*

i almost forgot i love damien rice's song the blower's daughter, which by the way is part of the soundtrack of the movie closer (gad i love this film!) i haven't hear it is for a long while, i think almost a year, just until now while i'm blog hopping and i should say it magic isn't gone it still never fails to make me want to close my eyes and feel every single subtlety of movement around me or sometimes just makes me want to move in slow motion while everybody around me is rushing like natalie portman in the opening scene of closer (it's just me and my love for theatrics).

people who know me from high school will attest to my addiction to fashion. as a matter of fact my ultimate dream then is to grace the paris fashion week runways.
however things had changed. i've learned to accept that i will never have long legs and i'll never grow at least 5'8. but my brother somehow got the fashion virus from me and became more obsess over models and introduced me to some of his "new friend"(note: by brother is not gay and god knows what's running in his head while browsing over some glossy magazines). thanks to him, i've finally found my long lost sisters :)

tomorrow will be my last day in work. i told lola i'll be leaving her to pursue loftier ambitions (naks!). i wonder how this new (mis)adventure of mine will unfold? well i've been in this situation before almost a year ago. the only difference now is that i can still live like a prinsesa for the next few months even without a steady source of income. but knowing myself, i'll surely be living a frugal prinsesa's life. hehe.

for an early animated film, fantasmagorie by emile cohl is exceptional. i've read somewhere online that cohl created this animation after seeing an american animated film and figured that he can make something far better.
i don't have any background in animation nor am i interested to animation per se, but i was awed upon seeing. who would have thought this 1908 animated short will eventually become the benchmark of contemporary animation?

if you aspire to hit big in philippine showbiz but you can't sing a single note or utter a one-line dialogue withhout looking like a prototype of robocop, then launch a dance album. whoever thought of this ingenuity should be commend. kudos! (note: sarcasm overflowing)
how to have a dance album you ask me? simple. just get in front of the camera and start wiggling your booty like crazy and the next day, your stupid dance album will be out in the all music bars nationwide or in your nearest deebeedee suki. ii's just so absurd that they even have the decency to call it an "album" and stick the booty shaker's faced in the cover even though he/she had never actually sang any of the weird sounding songs in it. and people are actually buying it, original copy or otherwise! and mind you, they even reach gold or platinum or whatever accolade it is record companies give to best selling albums!
whatever happened to musical sensibility?

my aimless search on the heap of dvds in my beloved pokiaps had been very very rewarding! i had finally found copies of two movies on the top of my wishlist: a hard days night and volver. weeeee!!!!!!!!
(director: richard lester; starring: the fab four)
(director:pedro almodovar; starring: the goddess)
finally this copy of volver has a decent and comprehensible subtle hence i don't have to learn spanish thank heavens! i'll settle with français thank you very much. hahaha! and i can now watch a hard days night, one of the recurrent movie titles in jessica zafra's writings. by the way, i just realized i have a secret crush on ringo and george.
i'm in bliss and i'm all psyched up! because i am a junkie, a movie junkie! hahaha!

i've always have girl crush over natalie portman and scarlet johansson. and putting them together in one film make just so surreal. what more can i ask for?
i am not a big fan of this film genre but i will definitely going to watch the other bolelyn girl. i'm so excited!!! by the way, another reason for me to see this film is jim sturgess, the hot brit actor who played jude in julie taymor's across the universe. rawr!
