WHILE I'M IN OBLIVION...

...nagkakagulo na sa makati. sen. antonio trillianes III and his cohorts had walked out from the makati RTC and are once again calling for the ousting of mrs. arroyo. times like these i just to be in UP and listen to what sir doti, sir tuazon, sir carl and my other professors would have to say about this development.personally, with all the blatant bastardizing of the people in the government to the constitution and the citizen of the philippines i reckon this is the right time for she-who-must-not-be-named to step down from her precious office. although it is rather apparent that many filipinos are having political fatigue already, i doubt they wanted to be persitently strangulated by the sordid acts of our supposed to be honorable public servants.
(opinion ko: aslong as the ENTIRE armed forces remain loyal to GMA,it is impossible to topple her out of her highly guarded throne. i hate to say this but in the curretn political situation of our country, those that are supposed to serve the majority are actually sworn sycophants of the few.)

oh my god i almost forgot!i am in malacanang compound right now and i am not even aware of the actual hullabaloo outside.nag-aalala na magulang ko tiyak.hahahaha! geezzz, i miss UP even more.

C'EST NOSTALGIQUE!N'EST-CE PAS?

the beatles makes me feel rather nostalgic all the time. like having a mental road trip.surprising though, since i wasn't even conceived during the peak of the beatlemania (my parents might not have known each other yet then) and i wasn't even alive when they reach the nadir of their soaring/soring career. whenever a beatles song plays, i do not merely get an auditory feel of it, it also seems to penetrate the innermost chambers of my relentless soul.hay...it's just me romanticizing life and the beatles again..hehe!..love this beatles song!it's like the fab four are giving me a huge bear while telling me everything's gonna be okay..hay...kapareho ding sensasyon sa awitin ng eraserheads na with a smile..hay naku po..enjoy!

MY FAVORITE KELLY CLARKSON SONG

i'm not really a big fan of kelly clarkson though i think she really has talent. her song sober is one of the few songs that makes me tres sentimental, and this guy's rendition really caught my attention.i am impressed of his singing voice, plus the fact that he plays the piano.quite surprising though, i rarely get awed to any form of musical talent, but seriously for a momnet i paused and momentarily suspend my habitual multitasking activities just to get a feel of this guy's version of the song..haha!anyway, enjoy!

And I don't know
This could break my heart or save me
Nothing's real
Until you let go completely
So here I go with all my thoughts I've been saving
So here I go with all my fears weighing on me
Three months and I'm still sober
Picked all my weeds but kept the flowers
But I know it's never really over
And I don't know I could crash and burn but maybe
At the end of this road I might catch a glimpse of me
So I won't worry about my timing, I want to get it right
No comparing, second guessing, no not this time
Three months and I'm still breathing
Been a long road since those hands I left my tears in but I know
It's never really over, no
Wake up
Three months and I'm still standing here
Three months and I'm getting better yeah
Three months and I still am
Three months and it's still harder now
Three months I've been living here without you now
Three months yeah, three months
Three months and I'm still breathing
Three months and I still remember it
Three months and I wake up
Three months and I'm still sober
Picked all my weeds but kept the flowers

***
geez, i should be preparing for the exam!haha!goodluck sa akin.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHY I LOVE SUNDAY NIGHT

i might have been missing so much weeknight TV since i started working but i never care less since the TV gods all agreed to cram some of my favorite tube shows (heroes and kid nation) in a sunday night.yupi!

it's lord of the flies meets survivor plus sands everywhere. i'm talking about kid nation. the idea of sending bunch of kids in the middle of no where and let them build a "civilization" is rather intriguing, so you can't blame me if i tried to hid from everybody (including myself) at home the remote control during its pilot episode weeks ago to avoid random channel switching. since then, mon and i got totally hooked.anyway, these kids have to stay in bonanza city and be the so-called pioneers of the said town and start a build a town from scratch.adults are barred, save for this guy (the host that so immaterial for me i don't know who he is) who administers their weekly "showdown" and oversees their town meetings (and the camera people, of course). it's just so hilarious seeing children bickering over who gets to wash the dishes and who gets the highly coveted merchandise in the town store without being scolded (not to mention punished) by adults.nobody will be booted out, but anyone is free to leave as they please. the "pioneers" have to work their asses off to impress the council and be awarded with a gold star worth $20,000. it is really easy to pass kid nation as a cute kid show, but there's more to this reality show that meets the eye. the kids do make perfect sense when they're tackling "adult issues", even more sensible than us adults (adult?!me?!weird..hahaha!). i guess the ameicans should start considering 15 year-olds to replace george w. bush. hahaha!

anyway, i kinda like this one kid mike(though i love almost all the kids, no kidding), the former council leader of red the district because he's so animated (just like me, hahaha!) and is really adorable.if you know me, you'll totally understand why i like the kid.hahaha! have i been just 12, i will unabashedly proclaim that i have a big crush on him. but for my age, ultraconservatists will surely branded me pedophile..hahaha!

i've been sooooooo excited for the second season of heroes. i never follow any superhero show
before, not even smallville. i actually think smallville sucks big time and the idea that clark kent had been a lousy and cheesy and corny teenager makes me want to puke. oh i almost forgot, i love x-men!!as a matter of fact, the reason i like heroes is because subliminally i kinada see it as an x-men incarnate. but i never thought of heroes as merely as a rehashed version of x-men. anyway i can't wait to see peter petrelli (played by the hottie milo ventimiglia) again. but i did not expect he'll grow some muscles, not to mention flaunting them in national tv (or perhaps i just didn't notice it before). haha! oh well, what do you expect. bare chest equals soaring ratings. kidding aside, until now some things are still left unexplained in the plot of this show. nevertheless, i reckon it's the writer/s' formula to keep the their viewers and even attract more audience. i am also glad they retain the character of hiro nakamura and his friend ando. only now it seems that ando will be having adventures of his own. but i kinda feel sad for hiro because he has this thing for girls from other "time" and he ends up getting dumped. not by the girls, but by circumstances.i was also surprised that the "hero" that will die in season 2 is DL. i thought it will be nathan but of course i doubted it. how sad for me anyhow because i kinda like DL's character too. as a matter of fact, i practically love all the character's in heroes, even sylar. hell do i sound like a real wacko fan now!hahaha!new "heroes" were also added, but so far my! favorites are the latino twins maya and alejandro. they're like a metaphor of life and death, a sort of brahma and shiva in flesh.the one sucks life out of people who physically hurts her (now you have an idea which twin i'm talking about), while the other practically absorbs death out of the other twin's victims. astig diba?i can't wait to get a DVD of this! i've never been this so obsess since the first harry potter movie.hahaha!

NEO-MASOCHIST

had one of my left molars reconstructed yesterday. for an obsessive-compulsive oral hygiene freak like myself, it is such a same that i didn't notice my precious molar nearly deteriorated. yung lumang pasta bumigay na pala, then nagcrack na sya dahil sira na pala ang loob (sorry for being so graphic. i will stop now*wink*).

thanks to my highly adept dentist, the almost lifeless tooth is now revived.*wink* and i was just surprised that instead of cringing from all the drilling going on in my molar, i was actually enjoying the pain! sarraaaaaaappppp!!!!!!! it was the only time i felt the tingling sensation nea was talking about. sarap sarap nga!weeee!!!! the dentist who reconstituted my molar suggested to me to tell her if i can no longer handle the pain para daw she'll inject anesthetic. anak ng kamote! nasasayahan na kaya ako sa pagbabarena nya! besides i am already having so much fun!

perhaps before, the reason i was not able to enjoy the "ngilo" sensation because i already am feeling the
so-called "tooth drilling fatigue". i used to wear braces during my 6th grade, and before they install the "wires", i have to have my molars fixed. and mind you, every week ako pinapapasta non, 2 teeth a day!nakakapagod nga naman diba?i dreaded my visits to my dentist/s then. feeling ako ako si alex sa clockwork orange non. i was screaming cusswords in my head, cursing my dentist/s to death! syempre may nakakapagsalita ba pag may kung anu anong ginagawa sa ngipin? pero ngayon, mahal ko nasiya/sila.wahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

i am now a bonafide neo-masochist. bienvenue pain! come, come, come!!!

THE VIRGIN SUICIDE

when i heard the news about the suicide of a 12 year-old mariannet amper in davao city, my initial reaction was "shet!ito ang virgin suicide." grabe lang!to go suicidal because of raging teenage hormones is one thing, but killing ones' self out of sheer desperation is another. at sa puntong ito, bata ang nagpakamatay, hindi ama ng tahanan na nawalan ng trabaho o isang ina na walang maipakain sa kanyang mga anak. this kid should be thinking of socks to wear for school the following day or what hair clip to use for her friend's party. instead, she was consummed by the bleak future waiting for her and her family.

i was appalled by the reaction of the government to amper's death. nabasa ko kahapon sa inquirer, when one of the entourage of the president in an anti-poverty conference or something was ask for a reaction on this case, ang sagot ba naman ay ang suicide umano ay isang "isolated case". amputang inang!isolated case?!ilan pa ba ang dapat magpakamatay para masabi nila na laganap na talaga ang problema ng kahirapan sa bansa? ilan pa ba ang dapat sumulat sa wish ko lang para sa kakarampot na pagsilip sa pag-asa? gosh!the nerves! and then this morning mababasa ko na lang GMA laments over amper's death and her administration is going to launch counter-poverty/anti-poverty drive!talk about being thick-faced! ang tagal ng isyu ng kahirapan at matagal na ding sinasabi ni madam na lahat ay ginagawa ng kanyang administrasyon para lang masugpo ito. the amper family and millions of other filipinos who go to sleep hungry and are below poverty line do not need any of your "consoling words", madam. as a matter of fact, the filipino nation does not need those words (or excuses)at all! we want action, quick and apparent!

honestly, i cannot construct a decent ilonggo sentence kahit maiksi lang. although my first language (yes, ilonggo, among other vernaculars you call "dialects", is actually a language) is ilonggo, i seemed to had slighltly unlearned the language since we moved here in luzon. stumbling upon these ilonggo spoofs of 300 and troy in youtube.com somehow revived my repressed memory of this visayan language. to those who cannot comprehend ilonggo, you may not find it hilarious dahil iba ang lengwahe sa nakasanayan, but watch it nevertheless. may non-verbals naman eh. *wink* pero sa nakakaintindin, nami-nami ni!hahahaha!tama ba grammar ko?*wink* enjoy...

VANESSA CARLTON MINUS THE OMNIPRESENT PIANO

this is my last post for today, i promise.. just find this new vanessa carlton video (nolita fairytale) really interesting because her trademark piano was dropped for a somehow more "conventional-looking" music video. the piano was got hit by a cab in the beginning, and althoughout the entire video it was just her alone doing some odd movements like all the other female solo artists. is it some kind of a metaphor? don't get me wrong, i DO love this song and i think she's unique. its just that i think she's extremely talented and there is no no need to market her like her mediocre contemporaries. well whatever her (or her PR manager's) reasons are, i still like better her with her old pal..

gone were the days when i used to write and speak eloquently...browsing over my previous blog posts and my nearly rotting papers, i reckon i need a total vocabulary and grammar overhaul pronto..

now i begin to read everything in the other language, pronounce english words differently, and count aloud in some obscure language like a toddler just learning to utter her first words... seems like a third language can really ruin the other language know-how of anyone with short attention span like myself...hay...

NASTY, NASTY

dogville is such a heart wrenching experience. had cinema been a spoken language, lars von trier had always been outright and unapologetic yet very pooignantly lyrical.

i like the fact that there were no elaborate props and set in this movie. instead of focusing entirely to the panoramic town situated in the foot of a lush mountain, the audience were drawn to the personnages and their character development. as for the actors, their acting prowess was put to test since there was barely anything to hide any of their lapses. this technique (at least for me) is not bothering at all. in fact, once you get a hang of this, you won't even notice this unconventionality.

as for the main personnage, grace (portrayed by the sublime nicole kidman) was molded a little similar to selma of dancer in the dark; naive, forgiving and altruistic. though i am not sure if this is intentional. oh yes, dogville and dancer in the dark are part of a trilogy about US being a land of promise or something. (note to my avid reader/s:correct me if i'm wrong, ok? ). anyway, their only difference: this gracey girl can pull a trigger and burn (a) house(s) down, literally. anyway, the main plot revolves around the nature of human conscience and how this "imaginary friend" is usually neglected, if not totally silenced, whenever human beings decided to act like dogs and begin to do deplorable acts to others. however, self restraint has an end and
when a badly beaten and deeply disparaged man (well in this case, woman) reach the day of reckoning, expect retaliation worst than the second world war. ika nga ni fjp, puno na ang salop.

dogville is a cinematic excursion not for the weakhearted. it may not be as brutal and as tormenting as dancer in the dark, but it is nefarious nonetheless. after all,
what would you expect from the man who introcuded the world to selma jezkova?

DEAD GIRL FOREVER

without any second thoughts, i suggested to tatay that we watch Halloween. just for a change,i told myself. after all, i haven't laugh like crazy for the past couple of months. and i must say rob zombie didn't disappoint me. wahahahahahahahahahahahahaha(cough).

i spent the first five to ten minutes of the movie figuring out where did i first see the cherubic, curly- hairly teenage girl playing as the psycho kid's eldest sister (i was persistently bugging mon for that, and he nearly whack me out of sheer exasperation). when it's her turn to the carnage, it hit me: she was cecilia lisbon, the youngest suicidal kid from the virgin suicides. then everything seemed like a deja vu: paramedic taking her lifeless body (only this time it was drench in blood, yet not much of a gorefest) to the to the ambulance, blond-haired head lulling from the stretcher, her serene imitaion of death. however, without bating an eyelash, she's already out of the picture. naputol na ang career nya. then after my brief epiphany, i begun chuckling till the end of the movie. wahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha(cough). hey, nobody reminded me it was a horror flick!
wahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha(cough)

ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM MEETS POP ART

surprise!bagong bihis na ang aking blog.

the theme i chose is rather ironic kasi i somewho fused two different art movements; pop art ung ginawa kong header picture pero hango sa abstract expressionism ang title. ganito na lang para wag kayong malito, abstract expressionism has really nothing to do with my new theme. just found the phrase apt to describe my writing style: abstract. gets? parfait! and as for pop art, wala lang uli.hahahahaha! enjoy..*wink*
