The thing with Hakuri Mukami and Gong Li is that they are both actually pop icons. And I, an “erudite” of not-so-mainstream literary and cinematic stuffs, had actually been a downright sham for persisting that their popularity is strictly for the intellectual circle alone.

Yes, I am stupid, overly overthink things and a pseudo-intellectual. And yes I am stupid, overly overthought things and tends to blur the borderline between knowing something and just knowing some things. Yes, I am a victim of false reality that the taste of the elite is far more superior to the masses. That whatever pop to them is not really pop because they are elites and their social position fortifies the “grandness” of their beliefs. Not because the elites and the wannabee- elites enjoys Starbucks, wears Havaianas, or uses Olay doesn’t mean these are far better than the Great Taste, Havanas or Ponds. Not because the “rich” and the feeling rich stroll and go malling to PowerPlant Mall doesn’t mean it is more of a heaven as compared to Quiapo or Metropolis Mall.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not condemning the rich or their taste. I’m not trying to offend anyone. Actually at times I am rather desperate to be on these “privilege” people’s Havaianas. No please don’t spam me hate mails after this!!*wink* I’m simply making a point. POP CULTURE IS RELATIVE AND IT VARIES TO DIFFERENT SOCIAL STRATA. And for being relative I mean one is no better or worse than the other. (I am actually about to discuss some ideological relations, but then I change my mind. Don’t wanna give some impression.) And for being different I mean that you can’t forced no one to like it kasi depende sa panlasa ng tao yon. Gets?

But come to think of it. Isn’t it some well- loved and indulged pop culture icons like Eat Bulaga, Super Inggo and Coke actually owe their status to media, which by the way is entirely controlled by the elites? Then pop culture is still manipulated by the elites themselves?!hmm..hahahaha!!! A wild assumption.
Sayang di ko tinake ang Pop Culture bilang cognate last sem. Enjoy sana yon.

Blame this rant to Murakami. Pero amputa nagustuhan ko ang Norwegian Wood!! Salamat sa Powebooks, isa ding bahagi ng pop culture. See? I love everything pop din! I actually enjoy every degree of it. From Murakami to Bob Ong.

Yahoo!!! Have I told you na sembreak na talaga ko..yeeesss!!!! finally…detox period at last. Isang sem na lang mapapaalila na ko sa mga kapitalistang tinitira ko ngayong kolehiyo. Another bitter fact of life. Paglabas ng kolehiyo kelangan lunukin ang ilang idolohiya para makapagsimula sa totoong mundo. Tapos pag- establish na tayo, saka na tayo bumalik sa dating gawi. Weeeee….

"..we felt the imprisonment of being a girl, the way it made your mind active and dreamy and how you end up knowing what colors went together. We knew the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them."

-The Virgin Suicides(1999)

...Abstract Expression...

expressing in abstract is my cup of tea.which explains my fascination to the cryptic and the obsure.

...the Abstract Expressionist...

febbie anne.popularly know as pebi, febbie, febz and piboy among others.frequently inebriated by sofia coppola films, bjork and coldplay songs, and haruki murakami novels.a political science misfit. an artist bereft of opportunity.an off-key chanteuse.a cinephile and bibliophile.neophyte in wordplay. in dire need of a loyal sycophant.

prepare to decipher the enigma......
